PTA Fundraising !

29th January 2018

OPEN FORUM

On Saturday 3rd February, we have our annual Open Forum for prospective Sixth Form students. More details are available on the enclosed flyer.

PARENT/TEACHER EVENINGS

I would like to remind you that we have two more Teachers & Parents Evenings coming up, with that for Year 8 on Thursday NEXT week. Please remember that in the amended post-hurricane school calendar we rescheduled the Yr 9 Parents Evening.

Year 8 PTE – Thursday 8th February: 5.00 – 7.00 PM

Year 9 PTE – Tuesday 13th February: 5.00 – 7.00 PM

Your child will be issued with an appointment sheet and will ask their teachers to fill this in according to mutual availability. Interviews are restricted to five minutes; should you require longer to discuss matters concerning your child, please arrange appointments during the school day by phoning Ms Bain (232-3331), or emailing your child’s teacher(s) directly.

MEDICINE

I need to remind you that students are not permitted to bring medicine of any kind (whether prescribed or over-the-counter) to self-medicate in school. Our Code of Conduct stipulates that the medicine needed by any child must be clearly labelled and left in custody at the school office, with a precise indication of the dosage and the time at which it should be taken, along with written authorisation from the parent for Ms Bain to administer it to the child concerned.

PTA FUNDRAISING

Thank you to those in the BWIC family, and friends, who contributed to or attended the Yard Sale in Brayton Hall on Saturday. As a revival event on a day of very poor weather, we had a modest number of sellers – but with a fabulous range of bargains to be had. A good number of buyers braved the strong winds, and it was a great opportunity for various school groups to sell raffle tickets, and otherwise swell their coffers for their different projects. A special thank you to the ladies of the PTA (and what about you gents helping out too?), as well as to those who donated delicious cakes and other dainty delicacies which sold…like hot cakes! We hope to host another Yard Sale in a few weeks’ time, and encourage those thinking of having their own table to offload those irksome bits of clutter from the home – and earn a few bucks in the process – to book a place early.

In addition to all other events indicated on the school calendar for Hilary Term, the PTA has the following two prepared. Your collaboration with these and all PTA initiatives is warmly invited, as all funds raised assist in the education of BWIC students.

Fri Feb 9th – PTA Movie Night (Brayton Hall). “Disney/Pixar’s “COCO”

Sat Feb 24th  – PTA Poker Night (Brayton Hall)
