Parent Teacher Association

The BWIC Parent Teacher Association (PTA), a dynamic group of parents, teachers and school administrators, meets once a month to brainstorm and discuss:

  • Fundraising activities
  • School needs
  • School community social events
  • Issues relating to the well-being of our students.

The PTA work in partnership with the Senior Administration to ensure that our school continues to deliver high quality education, while striving to meet the dynamic needs of our student body.

We organize hardworking and dedicated parent volunteers who play a strong role in promoting school events and accomplishments.

The PTA warmly welcomes any parent to come along and attend its meetings, which generally take place in the school Library at 8.15am on the first Monday each calendar month

Blaze the Stage - PTA helps BWIC

Annual events currently include “Blaze the Stage”, a talent show organized by the Music Department, and “Literacy Alive”, an evening of prose, poetry and drama prepared by the English Department. The PTA also help to plan various Christmas and Valentine themed fun days for the students, assist teachers at Sporting events, and work with the graphics specialist to produce Christmas, School and Yearbook pictures. Additionally, PTA parents organize the selling of pizzas at lunchtime every Friday before the afternoon of activities.

Funds raised by the PTA have contributed towards the enhancement of the Computer Laboratory, the purchase and construction of shade sails in uncovered seating areas, and the acquisition of various instruments for the Music Department, including the recent set of Steel Pans.

In addition to the fundraising events, the PTA is a valuable and active channel of communication between home, the school and the community at large, making suggestions and assisting where possible to provide our children with a happy school life in a safe environment.

PTA Initiatives

Pizza Fridays

Pizza Fridays at BWIC

This has been an ongoing programme. Students are offered pizza for purchase on Fridays. Parent volunteers are always needed to help serve the pizza. Arrive at the school at 12:30, serve pizza, and be heading home within 45 minutes. It is a great way to get to know all the students! Please contact the Principal if you are able to assist.

Shade Sails

Sail shades cover the outdoor commons area

The PTA raised the money for the shade sails one September evening when the new families were welcomed to the school. The PTA did an appeal for families to sponsor a sail. It was hugely well supported and families who did not get to buy a sail in its entirity made donations for the building works and the upright timbers. Volunteers came in to help the builder do all the work. It was a good initiative.
