Michaelmas Term Final Week

9th December 2022

We do enjoy seeing all our students every day! Until next Thursday, there is still a lot of teaching and learning to do. As we approach our final week of school before the Christmas and New Year holidays, please take note of the following:

CHRISTMAS GIFT DRIVE

Our sixth form is currently holding its annual Christmas gift drive, during which students collect donations of gifts suitable for children, to be distributed to organisations such as the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Provo Children’s Home, and the Senior Citizens’ Association. Donations of non-perishable food items, gently used clothing and shoes, toys, books, and games will be most gratefully received via your child’s form class.

YEAR 11 FUNDRAISING SALES

The school canteen will be closed all of next week. Year 11 will be selling snacks and drinks at very affordable prices during break times, raising funds for their graduation.

JEAN’S DAY DECEMBER 15

Next Thursday will be Jean’s Day, when students may come to school in suitable non-uniform clothing for an individual contribution of $2. There will be sports activities in the afternoon, organised by Mr. Armitt, followed by a Christmas movie in Brayton Hall, beginning at 3.30 PM. Entry to the movie will be $5. Pizza and snacks will also be available.

FUN HOUSE AT BRAYTON HALL DECEMBER 16

Friday morning will include a variety of fun House activities for all students in Brayton Hall, including Family Fortunes and our traditional Christmas Quiz.

TERM REPORTS

Michaelmas Term reports will be distributed to those present on Friday.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL

The school day will finish at midday; students will need to be collected by 12.45 PM. Classes will recommence at 7.55 AM on Monday 9th January.

PARENT & TEACHER EVENINGS

Our next Parent and Teacher Evenings will take place in January, as published in the annual school calendar: for Year 7 on Thursday the 12th, and for Year 8 on Thursday the 19th.

LAPTOP PROTECTION – Message from Mr Richards

Students are not always careful when handling personal equipment or shoulder bags in school. There have been a small number of instances when devices have sustained serious damage because they did not have suitable protection. It is not easy to repair items. Even with a warranty, it is costly to post the item to the USA if there is no accredited technician on the island. With Christmas looming, this is an apt time to remind parents that each child should have a shoulder laptop bag or protective sleeve for their device, especially if it is a new purchase.”

With very best regards, thank you for your continued collaboration,

Anthony Wilkinson
