Tree re-planting update

Friday saw the successful completion of our tree re-planting project. With the help of some Sixth Formers, Karyn Downes of the PTA, Mr Haynes and Amy Avenant from DECR, students used pick axes and shovels to break ground and dig holes large enough for us to take the plants that have outgrown their ceramic pots, and give them a new home in the garden.

It was hot, hard work but with a great team effort, we managed to finally complete the re-planting, as well as plant new, younger trees in the pots.

Over the past two years of running this project, each Form group has been taking care of one tree. Now, some of the Year groups will have a second tree to look after – at least for the next few weeks while the re-planted ones get settled into their new locations.

It was a fantastic effort by all the volunteers, and great organisation by our Student Council.

Projects like these are why BWIC was once again recognised at the annual DECR Environmental Stewardship Awards on Monday, receiving a certificate for their contribution to environmental awareness and assistance in keeping TCI ‘beautiful by nature’!
